Joseph's heart skipped a beat as he read the chilling words on the note. The handwriting was unfamiliar, yet it sent a shiver down his spine. He felt a rush of anxiety and paranoia flood over him, as if the walls were closing in.
“Who could have left this note? Do they know about the vision?” Joseph wondered. His mind raced with questions as he scanned the room for any signs of intrusion. Nothing seemed out of place, but the sense of being watched lingered. Joseph's instincts told him that something sinister was unfolding, and he could only tolerate so much.
Joseph continued with his schedule. Teaching fifth-grade Science was his main job. While he was on his way to his first classroom of the day, the bell for the first period rang, and another announcement was broadcasted.
“Mr. Redd, please come to the principal’s office immediately,” said the principal’s secretary. He went on to his classroom and told the students to read chapter two of their textbook. “I will quiz you after I get back,” he said.
And as Joseph ran his way to the principal’s office, he saw Jennifer’s father go into the office. Joseph went in and sat down, surprised as to why he was called there early in the morning.
“We want to ask you, Mr. Redd, about Jennifer Sanchez,” the principal interrogated. “What’s your relationship with Ms. Sanchez?”
“I don’t know her, I just happened to stumble upon her and tried my best to help her,” he said.
The principal's gaze intensified as he scrutinized Joseph's response. There was a tense silence in the room, broken only by the sound of Joseph's pounding heart. The weight of the situation was becoming increasingly apparent to him.
“Mr. Redd,” the principal continued, his voice laced with suspicion, “we have received a concerning report regarding your involvement with Jennifer Sanchez. A note was found in her possession, suggesting a connection between the two of you.”
Joseph's mind whirled with confusion.
He had not expected this twist of events. “I swear, I don't know what this is about,” he replied. His voice was laced with genuine concern. “I met Jennifer by chance. She was in distress, and I simply tried to assist her. I have no personal relationship with her beyond that.”
The principal leaned back in his chair, studying Joseph's expression. After a moment of contemplation, he let out a heavy sigh.
“I understand that this may be a misunderstanding, Mr. Redd. However, we need to investigate the matter thoroughly. Jennifer has gone missing, and the note found in her possession has raised some alarm. We need your full cooperation.”
Joseph's heart sank further upon hearing the news of Jennifer's disappearance, and he could not shake off the unease he had been feeling earlier. It seemed that his encounter with Jennifer and the mysterious note were intertwined in a web of uncertainty.
As he grappled with his own fears and unanswered questions, Joseph's thoughts were abruptly interrupted by a chilling presence beside him. It was as if he was touched by ice-cold skeletal hands, brushing over his shoulder.
“It’s alright, Mr. Redd, we will find her.” Jennifer’s father whispered.
Later that night, as Joseph’s sister brushed her teeth, she heard an inhuman voice asking for help as she was about to leave the bathroom. “Who are you?” Sherry managed to stammer, her voice quivering with dread. Scared of what was behind, she could hear herself pant and her heart race. The air grew heavy with tension, and the room seemed to darken as if consumed by an otherworldly presence.
The voice sent shivers down her spine, freezing her in place. She turned around slowly, her eyes wide with apprehension. There was nothing to be seen. And as she sighed with relief, she turned back to close the bathroom door. Looking up, unable to utter anything, she was speechless. Before her stood a figure cloaked in darkness, its features obscured. Fear coursed through Sherry's veins.
